Classical guitarist Deborah Anderson makes her home in the Pacific Northwest where she is active as a teacher and performer.  She holds BA and MA degrees from the University of California, San Diego, where she received a Fulbright Scholarship and the Regent's Scholar Award.  She graudated cum laude with degrees in Guitar Performance and Music Theory.  Her principal teachers were Celin and Pepe Romero.  She also studied with lutenist Jurgen Hubscher and performed in masterclasses with Celedonio Romero, Angel Romero, Manuel Barrueco, David Starobin and Christopher Parkenning, among others.  She studied the music of seventeenth century lutenist Barbara Strozzi with Carol Plantamura.    

Ms. Anderson directs the Guitar Program at Whatcom Community College and maintains an active private

teaching studio in the Bellingham, Washington area.  She delights in teaching dedicated students of all ages and levels.  Previous teaching appointments include the University of California, San Diego and the Children's School in La Jolla, California.  From 1994 through 2001 she hosted the radio program Guitar Classics on public radio KZAZ 91.7 FM.  In 1999 she received the Mayor's Arts Award for her contributions to the arts, guitar, and public radio.  

Ms. Anderson's repertore spans a wide range of periods and styles and she is an enthusiatic proponent of new music for the guitar.
